On March 21st the RJ Committee hosted the second annual RJ @ MSU Symposium!

We welcomed nearly 50 guests from MSU and neighboring universities to Brody Square for poster presentations on RJ in various disciplines, a brief presentation on RJ at MSU, round table circle discussions about RJ’s application to various situations in higher ed, and a keynote address by Dr. Mark Umbreit of the University of Minnesota. Special thanks to the symposium’s MSU cosponsors, Campus Living Services and Residence Life, School of Social Work, the Division of Residential and Hospitality Services, the Department of Student Life and Brody Neighborhood Engagement Center.

RJ Committee members Tom Wesley, Josh Durbin and Katie Lowden welcomes guests.

Poster presentations and round table exercises foster discussion and exploration of RJ’s use in various situations common to higher education.

RJ Coordinator, Nancy Schertzing, talks with Dr. Mark Umbreit before he begins his keynote address in Restorative Justice and Peacemaking in Higher Education.

The RJ Committee developed this overview of RJ principles and practice as we apply it here at MSU. Enjoy these slides which also include data on RJ usage in 2011-12 academic year here at MSU.
